Newport Beach families can grab a blanket and settle in for a free movie night Friday, Aug. 21, when the city's Movies in the Park series screens "The Bad Guys 2" at Cliff Drive Park.
The animated sequel starts at 7 p.m. at the park, located at 301 Riverside Ave., according to the event listing on STU News Newport. Pre-show activities, free popcorn and candy will be available before the film begins.
The DreamWorks Animation comedy, rated PG, runs one hour and 44 minutes. It follows a crew of reformed criminals — Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Ms. Tarantula — who get pulled into a heist masterminded by a rival team called the Bad Girls.
The city encourages attendees to bring chairs and blankets for the outdoor viewing. No registration or tickets are required.
The screening was also confirmed in the city's weekly community newsletter published Aug. 18. The city described the evening as an opportunity for the community to enjoy fresh air and a movie together outdoors.
