Newport Harbor, CdM students must pass CHP safety course to ride e-bikes to school this fall

Newport-Mesa Unified reminded families on July 7 that Newport Harbor High and Corona del Mar High students must complete a California Highway Patrol online safety course and quiz before picking up a permit sticker at August registration to ride e-bikes to school, while Ensign Intermediate and all TK-8 campuses ban e-bikes entirely under new Board Policy 5142.04.

Ex-parks boss faces 31 charges for filming lifeguards in locker room

Kevin Pearsall, 59, the former California State Parks superintendent who oversaw the Orange Coast District including Corona del Mar and Crystal Cove, appeared in Westminster court Aug. 6 on 31 criminal counts for allegedly planting hidden cameras that recorded lifeguards in a Bolsa Chica locker room; his arraignment was postponed to Sept. 21.

Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach has become the first facility in California and the western U.S. to earn the Center of Excellence in Multidisciplinary Endometriosis Care designation from the Surgical Review Corporation, with the program co-led by Dr. Marc Winter and Dr. Elizabeth Raskin.
