More than 150 Newport Beach women will gather at a Lido Isle bayfront home Wednesday, Sept. 16, to raise $75,000 for KidWorks, a Santa Ana nonprofit serving youth and families.

The annual Rosé on the Bay fundraiser runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the home of Dali Despotovic and Bob Olson. The evening includes food, wine, live music and opportunity prizes, according to the Newport Beach Indy.

All proceeds go to KidWorks, a faith-driven nonprofit that has worked with children and families in central Santa Ana since 1993. The organization makes an 18-year commitment to each student, following them from preschool through a bachelor's degree.

According to KidWorks' website, 100% of its students graduated high school on time over the last decade and pursued higher education. Among its college students, 72% are on track to graduate, compared with a national average of 27% for first-generation college students. More than 40% of its 2024 high school seniors started with the organization in preschool.

Committee chair Sue Willett, a Newport Beach resident, leads the event's organizing team. The committee also includes Anne Clemens, Michelle Dillon, Mari Frome, Dawn Hewitt, Jennifer J. Martin, Heidi Mendoza, Cathy Newton, Susan Sanders, Pam Shean, Kyle Team, Pam Terry, Ellen Wheeler and Annie Willett, along with Christy Mason of Costa Mesa.

Kyle Team, also a Newport Beach resident, founded KidWorks Women, the philanthropic arm behind the event, and chairs the KidWorks Advisory Council.

Separately, the Festival of Chefs fundraisers alone have raised more than $4 million for KidWorks students and programs since 2021, according to a Stu News Newport report.
