Newport Beach's largest independent brokerage is betting that artificial intelligence can run the back office for nearly 1,800 agents.

FirstTeam Real Estate announced Monday, July 27, that it will deploy an AI operating system built by Los Angeles-based Purlin across all 41 of its offices. The platform replaces the patchwork of software programs agents currently juggle for lead generation, marketing, contracts, negotiations, closings, and commissions, consolidating them into a single system agents can access by voice, text, email, or chat.

The move gives each of FirstTeam's 1,781 licensed agents a personal AI assistant capable of handling routine tasks without switching between apps, according to the Orange County Business Journal, which first reported the partnership.

"This isn't about adding another piece of AI technology. It's about creating a seamless experience for everyone involved in a transaction," Lauren Henss, FirstTeam's vice president of marketing and strategic initiatives, said in a statement.

FirstTeam, headquartered at 4 Corporate Plaza in Newport Beach since its founding in 1976, reported $6.12 billion in 2025 sales volume across 5,978 transactions, ranking No. 34 nationally by volume according to RealTrends Verified. The brokerage has 41 residential sales offices.

The deployment includes three Purlin products: PurlinOS, Purlin Close, and Purlin Offer & Negotiate, according to RISMedia. Together they connect agents, teams, clients, contracts, and transactions under one system.

Purlin, founded in 2018, merged with offer-negotiation platform Final Offer in February 2026 to form what the companies called the first end-to-end AI operating system for residential real estate, mortgage, title, and escrow. The combined company already serves more than 40,000 real estate professionals across North America, according to Purlin Chief Revenue Officer Tim Quirk.

CEO Michele Harrington framed the decision as consistent with FirstTeam's "Behind the Agent" philosophy. She said the AI ecosystem will help agents work more efficiently and make more informed decisions as the market grows more competitive.

The partnership lands in a market where Newport Beach's median list price sits at $5,995,000 with 199 active listings and a median 70 days on market, per RealTrends/Altos data from the week of Wednesday, July 22. Shaving days off a transaction timeline carries real dollar value in that price range.

Purlin CEO Giorgi Chigogidze said most brokerages are not yet built for a market where AI touches every part of a transaction, and that FirstTeam is positioning itself ahead of an industry-wide shift by standardizing operations, contracts, and negotiations on a single platform.

Neither company disclosed a go-live date for the rollout.
