Newport Beach families have at least seven Halloween events to choose from this week, though king tide flooding along the Balboa Peninsula could force last-minute changes to some outdoor plans.
Here is what is confirmed through Saturday, Oct. 31.
Tuesday, Oct. 27: Spooky Stories at Marina Park
The Newport Beach Public Library's Balboa Branch is hosting spooky stories and Halloween crafts at Marina Park from 4 to 5 p.m., according to a library Instagram post. The program is for ages 3-8. No registration is required, and materials are provided while supplies last. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Tuesday, Oct. 27: Pendry trick-or-treating and Dive-In Movie
Pendry Newport Beach, at 690 Newport Center Drive, is hosting poolside trick-or-treating from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by an outdoor screening of Coco, according to Visit Newport Beach. The listing says the event is open to resort guests, with walk-ins welcome. Costumes are encouraged. The listing also notes the event is weather-dependent. With the city under a coastal flood emergency tied to king tides that pushed water to a record 8.3 feet on Monday, Oct. 26, as KTLA reported, families should check with the resort before heading out.
Wednesday, Oct. 28: The Nightmare Before Christmas at Lido Theater
The Lido Theater at 3459 Via Lido screens Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas at 7 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. The film is rated PG.

Malibu Farm at Lido Marina Village offers free pumpkin carving from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. while supplies last.
A note on king tides

Families attending outdoor events in low-lying coastal areas should check conditions and organizers’ updates before traveling.
