Newport Harbor senior quarterback Jordan Spigarelli has thrown for 1,120 yards and 11 touchdowns through five games. He ranks sixth in Orange County as both the Sailors and Corona del Mar open league play Friday, Oct. 2.

The OC Register's season stat leaderboard, published Tuesday and drawn from MaxPreps data, shows the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Spigarelli completing 76 of 122 passes at 224.0 yards per game. Only five county quarterbacks have more yardage: Star Thomas III of Orange (1,884), Nate Eich of Savanna (1,690), Tuff Kovacs of Whittier Christian (1,316), Caden Jones of Crean Lutheran (1,288) and Brady Edmunds of Huntington Beach (1,137).

Spigarelli's top target, Shane McKibbin, sits 13th in the county in receiving with 437 yards, 22 catches and five touchdowns.

McKibbin averages 19.86 yards per reception.

Across town, Corona del Mar junior JJ Haley has 369 receiving yards, 20 catches and five touchdowns through the Sea Kings' 5-0 start. The 6-foot-3 receiver, a first-team all-league pick in 2025, averages 18.45 yards per catch.

"It's never a bad decision to throw the ball up in the air to JJ Haley," CdM coach Kevin Hettig told the Daily Pilot after the Sept. 10 Battle of the Bay, when Haley hauled in a leaping 24-yard touchdown catch with 14 seconds left in the first half.

Newport Harbor's defense also has two names on the county tackles leaderboard. Linebacker Jett Blauwkamp ranks 13th with 49 tackles, 26 solo and 3.0 tackles for loss. Ben Stremick is right behind at 15th with 48 tackles, 20 solo and 1.0 tackle for loss.

The Sailors enter Epsilon League play at 3-2. Newport Harbor has not played since a 42-0 rout of Colony on Sept. 18, with no game listed on MaxPreps between that win and Friday's opener. They host Foothill at 7 p.m.

CdM, unbeaten through nonleague play, travels to Fred Kelly Stadium at El Modena to face Villa Park in the Bravo League opener at 7 p.m. Friday. Villa Park also enters at 5-0, according to the OC Register.
